Why do spider veins occur and can they be fixed?

Question:
I’m 39 years old, from Hackensack, NJ, and recently I just noticed that I have a lot more spider-type veins on my legs than I’d ever had. They seem like they sprouted up overnight! Why do these occur and can they be fixed?
Answer:
Generally such veins occur because you have a family history of such veins. You also may spend too many hours on your feet. The smaller red veins can be treated with a specific laser designed for such veins. Larger blue veins respond best to injection with salt solutions- a technique called sclerotherapy.
