Basal cell carcinoma treatment

Electrodesiccation and curettage, also known as ED&C, is a procedure that removes the surface of the skin followed by burning the base of the basal cell carcinoma with an electric needle. Surgical options include surgical excision to remove the cancerous tissue and Mohs surgery to “shave off” thin layers of skin until all abnormal cells are removed. Other treatments include freezing, topical treatments and medications, although medications are typically recommended only for more advanced cases.
