What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a revolutionary way to sculpt your body by targeting trouble areas of fat that don’t respond well to diet and exercise. Using patented cooling technology to destroy targeted fat cells, CoolSculpting in NYC safely and gently removes fat without harming the surrounding tissue.

What’s more, CoolSculpting is completely non-invasive, requiring no needles, incisions, anesthesia or pain medications. Patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure, and visible results can be seen within two to four months.

What can be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is ideal for treating small areas of localized fat that don’t respond well to diet and exercise, including areas in the abdomen, love handles and back.

How does CoolSculpting work?

An early 1970s case studies showed that the cold from frozen popsicles may have led to dimpling in the cheeks of some children, indicating that cold might affect fatty tissue differently. Years later, world-renowned dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston would take that concept one step further: Could you safely remove areas of targeted fat by chilling it? Their research showed that fat cells are indeed more susceptible to cold temperatures than other tissue.

This discovery led to the development of CoolSculpting. Subsequent to the initial studies, Dr. Goldberg was chosen as an investigator for the studies documenting the efficacy of CoolSculpting in the treatment of love handles. Using a patented method called cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting destroys fat cells in targeted areas by precisely controlling temperatures with advanced cooling technology.

Over the course of about an hour, the treatment area is chilled to just above freezing. Since fat cells freeze before other tissue, crystals form only in the targeted fat cells, resulting in fat cell death. During the next one to two months, the fat is gently flushed from the system as part of the body’s natural metabolic process.

How is the CoolSculpting procedure performed?

Before your NJ CoolSculpting procedure begins, your dermatologist will mark the area to be treated and cover it with a gel pad to protect the skin. A special applicator then gently pulls tissue between two cooling plates, where it will cool targeted fat cells for about an hour. That’s all there is to it!

There’s no need for anesthesia, needles, incisions or stitches. Patients are free to relax, catch up on reading, or even take a nap during the procedure. Once the treatment is finished, you can return to your normal activities immediately. You don’t have to wait for anesthesia to wear off, and you won’t need any pain medication or time off for recovery.

Can CoolSculpting be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely! Many patients elect to combine the cold therapy of CoolSculpting with the skin tightening power of laser liposuction. This combination treatment provides better results than either procedure alone. You and your doctor should discuss whether a combination procedure is right for you.
