PRP Treatment – A Great Solution to Female Hair Loss
Hair is a hot topic – particularly among women. Whether in their teens or late forties, for women, the ideal ‘perfect’ look is never complete without a glorious hair-game. What if for one or more reasons you don’t fare that well in this department? Hair loss is one condition with the potential to spoil the party for you even on your big day, like a wedding or a party. It can be very persistent and defiant to even the most rigorous treatment regimes, but not so with PRP Treatment by Dr. Goldberg of SLSS (Skin Laser and Surgery Specialists) of New York and New Jersey.
PRP – What it is
For starters, PRP stands for ‘Platelet Rich Plasma’. So this treatment basically uses blood plasma in the platelet cells to help with hair regrowth and recovery. This is based on proven scientific findings that the platelets contain numerous mesenchymal stem cells and autologous blood products that contain proteins (growth factors) responsible for healing. (The technology has been used with great results to treat tendon injuries in athletes, including Tiger Woods.)
How the procedure works
This is one of the few all natural-autologous, non-surgical medical procedures available. Once you check into SLSS, blood is drawn from your body – as they do it during a routine blood test procedure. The blood is placed in a state-of-the-art centrifuge where it is spun to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood.
The cosmetic physician will then inject a shot of the PRP into your scalp. You are free to walk or drive home – on your own, without the need for assistance.
The benefits you get
PRP gives an amazing opportunity to women who would love to regrow their hair but 1)surgical procedures are not their thing and 2) are tired of using non-effective and expensive ointments for their hair loss control. You can also stop hair thinning by undergoing this procedure that results in a thicker hair concentration on your head.
Our Neograft surgical candidates also use the procedure to speed up things. In this case, the patients get the PRP therapy right around the day of their surgery.
Who needs PRP
If your hair is shedding, thinning or you have any form of alopecia e.g. androgenic alopecia or alopecia areata you can benefit from PRP therapy.
