Spider Veins (Sclero + Injections) in New York and New Jersey

Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey offer spider vein treatments to the residents of New York and New Jersey.

What Are Spider Veins?

The veins of your body are responsible for carrying blood back to your heart.  When these vital structures are damaged or do not work properly, the blood pools in the veins and causes them to swell and weaken.  Spider veins appear just below the surface of your skin, and their web-like appearance is why they are called “spider” veins.  While spider veins do not always require treatment, having them appear on your thighs, face, ankles and feet can present a cosmetic concern.

How Are Spider Veins Treated?

Spider veins are treated with lasers or sclerotherapy.  For red spider veins, Dr. Goldberg typically recommends laser treatments while sclerotherapy is recommended for blue spider veins.

How Is The Spider Vein Treatment Performed?

The goal of any spider vein treatment is to destroy the damaged vein and allow your body to re-route blood through healthier veins.  Laser treatments are performed by applying laser energy to the vein with a special device.  Sclerotherapy is a procedure that uses a series of injections that contain special chemicals that cause the vein to collapse.

Is The Procedure Painful?

Laser treatments are typically painless, but some patients experience mild discomfort with sclerotherapy when the needle is inserted into the vein.  If you are concerned with any discomfort during your treatment for spider veins, speak with Dr. Goldberg and he may administer a topical or local anesthesia to help with your comfort.

When Will I See Results?

The damaged veins are immediately destroyed with treatment, but your body slowly absorbs the vein over the course of a few weeks.  Some patients see results of spider vein treatment after one month.

How Long Do The Results Last?

The veins are permanently destroyed with laser treatments and sclerotherapy, but you can develop new spider veins.

Can Spider Vein Treatment Be Combined With Other Treatments?

Depending on your overall cosmetic goals and the areas being treated, Dr. Goldberg may recommend other procedures in conjunction with your spider vein treatment.
