Is rosacea hereditary?
Answered by admin
Question:
Is rosacea hereditary? My mother and grandmother both have it and I think I do too. How can you tell if you truly have rosacea?
Answer:
Rosacea can run in families. You know you have it if you see pimples, redness, flushing and swelling on various parts of your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Some people get some components; others get the whole full blown version of it. The pimples and swelling can be very nicely treated with topical treatments and sometimes oral antibiotics. The redness responds to various lasers such as KTP or pulsed dye lasers and/or intense pulsed light treatments. The flushing may respond to Botox or Dysport injections.
