What Is A Vampire Facial?
The Vampire Facial, also known as the PRP Facial, uses platelet rich plasma from your own body to help you fight the most common signs of aging. The technique has been used for facial rejuvenation since 2006 and is quickly becoming a favorite amongst celebrities and others who prefer non-surgical treatments. A Vampire Facial gradually improves the texture, tone and color of your skin with little to no downtime.
How Does A Vampire Facial Work?
The secret behind the results of your Vampire Facial is the growth factors that are found in your blood. Growth factors are a key part of collagen, keratin and hyaluronic acid production that maintains the volume of your skin. Over time, your body produces less of these substances, resulting in lines and wrinkles.
What Can Be Treated With A Vampire Facial?
The Vampire Facial is effective for treating problems that result from a loss of volume in your skin, such as frown lines, wrinkles around your eyes, smile lines and nasolabial folds that extend from your nose to the corners of your mouth. The technology behind Vampire Facials has also been proven effective for treating the neck, jaw, mid-face and cheek areas, as well as acne scarring.
How Is The Vampire Facial Procedure Performed?
Dr. Goldberg evaluates your skin to determine the proper treatment plan for your Vampire Facial. A specific amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to when you give blood or have blood drawn for medical labs. The blood is then processed to separate the blood components. The platelet rich plasma is then injected into the treatment area. The entire procedure takes about 20 minutes in most cases, but you should plan to spend about two hours at your appointment so that the blood can be collected and processed. For best results, Dr. Goldberg may recommend a total of three to six treatments at four to six week intervals.
Is The Procedure Painful?
A local anesthesia is administered to help reduce the discomfort during the procedure. After your procedure, you may have some bruising for about one week.
When Will I See Results?
Vampire Facials work with your body’s natural processes to rejuvenate your skin. As this takes time, you start to see improvements within three weeks, and your skin continues to improve over the course of eight months.
How Long Do The Results Last?
In most cases, the results of a Vampire Facial last two years or longer. Some lifestyle habits, such as smoking and sun exposure, may affect your individual results. To maintain your skin, Dr. Goldberg may recommend follow-up treatments every one or two years.
Can A Vampire Facial Be Combined With Other Treatments?
Based on your cosmetic goals and individual needs, Dr. Goldberg may recommend a Vampire Facial in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments.
