What Are NovaThreads?

NovaThread is a hypodermic needle preloaded with an absorbable synthetic suture that is used in a skin rejuvenation treatment that boosts collagen and helps your skin repair itself without leaving any scar tissue! The material used in these fully absorbable sutures is polydioxanone, and they are the same sutures used during open-heart surgery. The PDO sutures are available in a number of options, including the mesh or lyft. The process works by using a controlled healing process, during which the skin’s natural repair system kicks in to tighten and plump the skin from within. During this time, your skin will have fully absorbed the sutures, and shortly after, you will see the full results of your treatment.

How Does NovaThread work?

Our bodies are capable of what is known as, in medical terms, a selective inflammatory response. It is the science behind many cosmetic procedures, including microneedling and similar procedures. It means that, when properly triggered, the body has systems in place to help repair itself when cell and tissue damages occurs. When administered by a qualified professional, this natural controlled healing system can be used to rejuvenate and enhance the quality of the skin.

Two Techniques

NovaThreads stimulate collagen production through two techniques: the NovaMesh and the NovaLyft.

For this technique, sutures are inserted strategically to create a type of net or mesh shape. This setup naturally tightens the skin and works as a foundation to boost fresh collagen production. As your body works to “repair” the areas where the sutures were inserted, results will become visible.

This technique relies on the structure of the PDO sutures, which have small barbs that grip under the skin. Sutures are typically inserted facing the same way, unlike the NovaMesh, and they are pulled in strategic directions to instantly reposition the skin. The sutures will hold this position, and as they dissolve and the body sends repair signals to the area, the results will be a more voluminous, rejuvenation appearance.

A full, youthful face has a “v-shape”, which can be lost as age and gravity takes it toll. The goal behind the NovaMesh and NovaLyft techniques is to help restore this “v-shape”. Dr. Goldberg works closely with each and every patient to help discover the technique that is ideal for them. Additionally, unlike similar procedures, NovaThread can be administered in more than just the face and works excellent in the neck and jaw areas. Plus, NovaThread procedures don’t require any incisions, which means no scars are present.. Once healed, the only sign of the procedure will be a brighter, more revitalized appearance.

What is the Cost of NovaThread Treatments?

The cost of NovaThread rejuvenation will vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary for each patient. At Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey, we accept CareCredit® and Alphaeon™ Credit, as two convenient financing options to help our treatments stay affordable for all our patients.
