Laser Lipo vs. CoolSculpting
Answered by admin
Liposuction helps remove fatty deposits that diet and exercise don’t remove. The traditional procedure requires putting the patient to sleep using general anesthesia. This means longer recovery times, the risk of reaction to the anesthesia, and lots of bruising from the pushing and pulling motion of the cannula. There are less invasive procedures that offer excellent results.
Laser Liposuction
With laser liposuction, energy from a laser travels through the skin to the fatty tissue. It melts the fat which is then removed through a suction device attached to a surgical tool called a cannula. At the same time, the laser stimulates the production of collagen. This helps tighten the tissue and skin. Because laser cauterizes the blood vessels as it works, there is minimal bleeding or bruising.
Providing you avoid future weight gain, the results of laser liposuction last a long time. You’ll see improvements over a number of months as the new collagen forms and tightens the skin. One laser liposuction is usually all you need. It’s ideal for the abdomen, chest, chin, hips, knees, neck, and thighs.
Laser liposuction is minimally invasive so you do not need general anesthesia; only local anesthesia is necessary. As you do not need general anesthesia, you reduce the number of risks and recover more quickly.
CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting also helps remove excess fat that diet and exercise haven’t touched. Unlike laser liposuction, the entire procedure takes place without any local anesthesia or needles. You can drive home and resume normal activities after the procedure.
The technique used in CoolSculpting dates back to a study performed in the 1970s. The study involved dimpling within the cheeks of children who ate frozen pops. Massachusetts General Hospital dermatologists used this information to see if you could freeze and remove fat cells. Cryolipolysis is the method used. Fat cells are brought to temperatures near freezing to kill them. The body then naturally flushes away the destroyed fat cells over a span of one or two months.
Doctors cover the skin with a gel pad. The skin is then drawn between two cooling plates where the fat cells are frozen and destroyed. You don’t feel pain. You simply feel the sensation of cold on the affected areas.
CoolSculpting is ideal for the abdomen, back, and love handles. You will receive approximately three treatments over a span of nine months to a year.
If you’re interested in liposuction, but don’t like the idea of taking days or weeks off from work, CoolSculpting and laser liposuction are excellent alternatives.
