Best treatment for Keloid scars
Answered by admin
Question:
What is the best treatment for keloid scars? I’ve heard surgery is sometimes done, but then how do you avoid additional keloid scarring?
Answer:
Keloids, or big thick scars, occur in some people (may run in families) after the most trivial break in the skin. They ae very difficult to treat. Methods of treatment include the use of pressure bandages to flatten the scar, injections of localized cortisone or pulsed dye laser treatment. The best results may be achieved when some combination of all 3 methods of treatment are used. Surgery is not usually a good idea because it may exacerbate the keloid.
