Traditional liposuction uses a vacuum with a metal tube attached which the physician manually moves back and forth. This approach, in contrast, to laser liposuction leads to more bleeding and swelling. SmartLipo™ laser liposuction glides through fat leading to minimal destruction and bruising.

What Is The Biggest Improvement Seen With Laser Liposuction? |
Laser liposuction can help some patients, who in the past needed both liposuction and surgery. Some patients, treated with standard liposuction would also need either a neck or face lift, because their loose skin would be worsened by standard liposuction. Or if a patient had had loose, flabby skin on their arms, they only thing that could be done was surgery. Laser liposuction can be used to remove the fat and, as an added benefit, tighten the overlying skin.

There is no surgery that is without some risk, but there have been no serious complication reported with this procedure. And the recovery times are fast.

How Much Fat Can One Remove In A Session? |

In general large amounts are not removed. SmartLipo™ laser liposuction is for sculpting, not for large volume fat removal.

Where Does The Liquefied Fat Go? |

The vast majority of fat is either squeezed out of the incisions – like oozing blood – or suctioned out. But because your physician is suctioning liquid fat, instead of solid, it is not as traumatic. In addition, a very small amount of the fat is absorbed by the body and ultimately excreted.

How Do Patients Feel After The Procedure? |

Most people go back to work after two days. They will, however, wear compression bandages for two weeks, on average, compared to up to six weeks with standard liposuction.

How Long Do The Results Last? |

The results are permanent. The body has a finite number of fat cells; removed cells do not grow back.
