Question: Are there any challenges associated with treating port-wine stains, especially in terms of treating children? Answer: In general port-wine stains in children respond better and quicker than do such port-wine stains in adults. The problem in children is treating them with a mildly uncomfortable laser. Very specialized facilities, such as our, use experienced pediatric anesthesiologists. The children are given totally painless mask based sedation. There are no tubes and no pain,. Both the children, and their parents, are happy.

Question: How effective is the pulsed dye laser in treating redness associated with rosacea? Will treatment get rid of the redness for good or do you need additional treatments in the future? Answer: Both the pulsed dye laser (PDL) and intense pulsed light (IPL) can be highly effective in improving the redness associated with rosacea. Generally a series of monthly treatments is required. Because rosacea is an ongoing problem periodic touch-ups are required.
